Let us inform you about a very recent infrastructure restriction on the network of the Czech infrastructure manager Správa železnic between Břeclav and Hodonín. On 24 June 2021 a huge thunderstorm affected the concerned area. The situation is now being checked at Správa železnic, and more detailed information (about the expected duration of the restriction) should be available later on.
International freight trains are advised to be rerouted via Brno–Česká Třebová–Olomouc–Přerov/Prosenice. The rerouting causes approximately 3 hours of delay, and limits the following train parameters:
- train length: max. 678 m
- allowed speed: 105–160 km/h
UPDATE (28 June 2021):
Správa železnic is aiming to ensure operation by diesel traction on one track. Partial restoration of operations on Tuesday, 29 June 2021, information about the progress of work shall be available soon.
Re-introduction of electric traction is a matter of weeks, unfortunately.
Správa železnic is working on putting the interlocking system into operation. Restoration of level crossings is expected to be completed by Wednesday, June 30, 2021.
Freight railway undertakings are still advised to use the diversionary lines rerouted via Brno–Česká Třebová–Olomouc–Přerov/Prosenice. Traffic on the diversionary lines is smooth and capacity is available.
UPDATE (2 July 2021):
We are pleased to inform that both tracks between Břeclav and Hodonín are now in operation. Full electric traction operation, on the other hand, is still weeks ahead.
Until then, freight railway undertakings with just electric locomotives are kindly asked to use the diversionary lines via Brno–Česká Třebová–Olomouc–Přerov/Prosenice. Traffic on the diversionary lines is smooth and capacity is available.
